Cameren Pryor, MS

Cameren Pryor, M.S.

It takes a lot of strength to seek support, and for that reason, I am happy you are here.

My name is Cameren and I am a counseling psychology doctoral trainee with a passion for working with both athletic and non-athletic populations. As a former collegiate athlete, I understand the unique pressures and challenges faced by those in the athletic world, as well as the broader spectrum of personal growth. My approach to therapy is grounded in creating a warm and welcoming environment where you can feel fully authentic and explore your true self. I believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship is fundamental to the therapeutic process, and I’m committed to fostering a space where curiosity and self-discovery are encouraged.

I view therapy as a partnership, where together we navigate the path toward your aspirations, empowering you to reach your destination with clarity and confidence. Whether you’re an athlete seeking to address performance-related concerns or someone looking to explore personal growth, I’m here to offer a compassionate and engaging therapeutic experience.

My Approach to Therapy

I utilize a mixture of Relational Cultural Therapy (RCT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

I believe that connection contributes to optimal health and allows us to operate authentically, enabling us to thrive within our community. My approach to therapy includes an integrated perspective on your past experiences to better understand your current challenges and aims to cultivate a more fulfilling future. At the core of my work is an emphasis on relationships, thought patterns, and how your current and past relationships impact your functioning. While I primarily focus on RCT & CBT, I also incorporate a variety of modalities to meet my clients’ individual needs; recognizing there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. This includes techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Supportive Therapy.

Regarding performance, I take a goal-focused approach, combining the Pure Performance Model with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I view every performance as an opportunity to showcase your skills, where both validation and constructive feedback play crucial roles in achieving consistent excellence. I encourage embracing failures and mistakes as valuable learning experiences that highlight areas for growth. My approach focuses on boosting confidence and minimizing distractions during performance. I help you delve into your thought patterns and self-talk habits, helping you develop a mindset that supports maximizing your performance consistently. I utilize a variety of tailored mental tools and techniques to meet the unique needs of each performer I work with.
