Amber Williams, MS

Amber Williams, M.S.

“Welcome! I’m Amber Williams, a clinical psychology trainee passionate about helping you navigate life’s challenges with care, empathy, and integrated approaches. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where we can work together to address the issues that matter most to you.

I have experience in treating a variety of concerns, including depression, PTSD, ADHD, social anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder. Using therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, I tailor my approach to fit your unique needs and experiences.

Cultural competence is at the heart of my practice. I understand that each person’s journey is shaped by their background and identity, and I strive to honor that in every session. My commitment to inclusivity means that your story will always be heard with respect and understanding.

Collaboration is key to my work. I believe that therapy is a partnership, and I value the insights we can discover together. My experience working in team settings and participating in community wellness initiatives has taught me the importance of listening, learning, and growing—both as a therapist and as a person.

I am especially passionate about making mental health care accessible to everyone, particularly those in marginalized communities. I have been actively focused on initiatives that focus on equity in mental health, and I’m dedicated to bringing that same level of care and advocacy to my work with you.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you where you are and work with you to create meaningful change, I’m here to help. Let’s take this journey together.”

My Approach to Therapy

My approach to therapy is integrative and collaborative. I work with clients to identify their concerns and therapeutic goals, acknowledging they are the expert of their own experiences. I strive to create a space for clients that honors their experiences and autonomy, as well as that allows them to feel seen and known in a way that helps them fully know themselves and make meaning from their experiences. I believe people grow and flourish in the context of their relationships. I believe early childhood relationships and life experiences impact how we navigate current relationships and respond to life struggles. Therefore, I will be curious about the influence of past relationships and relational patterns on your behavior. Through the therapeutic relationship, clients and I work together to identify maladaptive behavioral patterns, or areas of their life that may be detrimental to their well-being, and to create alternative behaviors or thoughts that promote healing, growth, and better enjoyment of life. Once we hone in on interventions that best meet your needs and goals, I can integrate various evidence-based methodologies that I have trained in, including psychodynamic approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and mindfulness therapy.

What You Can Expect

Contingent upon your goals, we would likely meet once per week to discuss your concerns and uncover the roots of such problems and how they impact your sense of well-being. As a sense of trust and therapeutic alliance develops, you can expect to make meaningful connections between your experiences and your perspective. You will establish more adaptive ways of coping, solving problems, and navigating your world more confidently and effectively.
